German girl in the USA

My journey from Germany to the USA. All because of love.

But...I am not in the US yet. Still in Germany. I am waiting for the Visa to be approved.

My name is Julia and I am 25 years old. I’ve been in a long distance relationship for 1 ½ years now.
We are waiting for the Visa to be approved and then our journey can finally start.
Greg and I met online 2014. Since then, we’ve had a lot of skype dates and sent thousands of facebook messages. Everything was perfect and we knew we wanted to meet eachother in person.
It wasn’t easy to find a cheap plane ticket but luckily I found one and booked it right away. It was a long and exhausting flight but it was so worth it.

After a really nice week I had to fly back to Germany and I was very heartbroken.
But after 2 month in Germany I flew back in December and I got the biggest surprise ever.

He proposed.

We then started our visa journey. Obviously because we wanted to be back together as soon as possible. We had a lot of paperwork to do and we’ve spend more time apart during this process than actually together.
But we know why we are doing this so it’s definitely worth it.
I just moved from Berlin back to Kassel where my family lives so I can spend some times with them before I move to the states.

I still can’t believe that this visa journey is almost over. I’ve learned a lot of things about myself, especially that I have to be patient sometimes. Being in a long distance relationship made me stronger and also happier. I know that sounds weird but you learn to appreciate to smaller things in life (your relationship). Like when you finally get to skype with your love after a long week at work. Or the simple good morning/good night texts.

But I am definitely looking forward to closing the distance.
I am going to start a new life with my love in another country and a different language.
This is our story and I hope that we can help other people in long distance relationships with it.
It’s hard but doable.
