German Girl in the USA is a Blog about a girl (that's me ;) ) that moved to the USA 5 months ago to live with her husband.

My Name is Julia and I am 26 years old. I was born and raised in Germany.

I met my husband 2014. Online. We started dating and soon realized that we wanted to see eachother. So we booked a plane ticket for me and after 8 months we met for the very first time. Our best friend during that time was of course Skype.

Fast forward a couple of months and I visited him again. On Christmas day he proposed to me and I said yes. It was so hard to say good-bye when I had to go back to Germany.

In order to live with him together we had to apply for a Visa. It was a very long process (about a year) but in the end so worth the wait.

On my blog I will post about:

♦    my daily life here in the USA

♦    tips for expats like myself

♦    once in a while about my life as a military wife

♦    (German) Recipes

My goal is, to motivate other expats to live their life to the fullest. Being an expat is not always easy but if you fight for what you love or want you will make it work. Also, I'd like to make this blog a community, a place for those who want to live in the USA and need someone to talk to.

The hardest part of moving abroad (the USA) is getting the Visa. As I mentioned above, it is a very long process and sometimes it can be very stressful ( obtaining every document you need).

If you are an expat I would love to hear from you. How was your experience with the VISA process?
Are you a new (foreign born) military spouse like myself? Let's get to know eachother and share our fears and succuss-stories.
